Reaganomics going full throttle, Reagan beats Mondale in a landslide, Karate Kid a block buster, 99¢ a gallon gasoline, 80¢ Whopper Jumbo Jack Arby's roast beef Big Mac burgers. And Banana Rama's mega hit playing on every radio station all over USA. Great summer great year great song great country great music great era great time great people great time to be alive. Glad I lived it.

Happy 40th birthday "Cruel Summer". Forty years ago today, Monday June 27, 1983, "Cruel Summer" was released. This song will stay in my memory forever, because it also embodies my attitude towards life in the 80s and what made the great music of that time so special to me. Behind all the energy and joie de vivre you can feel that pain and longing that deep emotions bring with them. The more years go by, the more clearly I hear this longing. She has always been an important part of me and always will be. Thank you Bananarama and thank you Cruel Summer. Congratulations from Berlin, Germany

The best decade in terms of music production, the eighties, where the talent was real, unlike the current commercial garbage, only those of us who lived in that time, know how that era was, that will hardly be equaled, it was the best decade.

I would love to return to the ‘80s and relive all that great music. I get overwhelmed thinking about that marvelous time and all the fun I had! I really don’t care for the music of today, although I live in a city with a great college radio station (Radio K) that listen to regularly.

1984 might have been IMO a dull and an uneventful year in music, however this song is the exception. Great song, the ladies knew how to belt it out. One of my 80s guilty pleasures.
