Happy 40th birthday to Cruel Summer. Forty years ago today, Monday June 27, 1983, Cruel Summer was released. This song will stay in my memory forever, because it also embodies my attitude towards life in the 80s and that is what made the great music of that time so special to me. Behind all the energy and joie de vivre you can feel that pain and longing that deep emotions bring with them. The more years go by, the more clearly I hear this longing.
