Falling in love with NPCs is a future-only thing? Ever heard the term 'waifu'?

Credits to Extra Credits for future school work being gamified in the near future.

Were also going to see lots of ARG type games on phones, and i mean LOTS.
Arg equipment to identify items from the very spot. As sophisticated as noticing that a hazardous fire is also electrical.

Games or simulations that simulate walking down the streets of famous cities (Ide say there already is).

But im mostly in it for future Genres, or the development of current genres. 15 Years ago, genres were alot more simple and not too modernised. 25+ years ago alot of games were pretty much original and relied on that. Today, we see alot of modern games but slowly seeing creativity spring in. Specialy with the indie games really wanting to be different (Or the exact same on some games).

Can we have a talk on Genres? Gameplay genres, Story genres, Theme genres, does not matter. Just Genres!

Maybe in the future, wearing glasses with no lenses will be illegal.

Does anyone know what clip was used at 3:04 where he talks about chiptune superstars?

One of my predictions is that within ten years, the gaming industry is going to face a problem similar to what it faced in the late 70's to early 80s. In the same way that junk games clogged the industry and caused a sharp decrease in the price of games and in consumer confidence for what they're buying, I think some of the practices employed by developers are going to lead to that sort of crash.

We already see developers taking advantage of crowdsourcing to get paid for the project before they even make it, or to even scam people out of money. Free to Play mobile games have produced increasingly shady games that are often criticized, early access games have also burned many gamers and even large developers are using media blackouts to peddle games that do not live up to expectations in an attempt to fool early buyers and those who pre-order.

Jamin, I love you so much. You deal armies of little kids with such grace and respect. And your description of your mixed race heritage made me chortle with joy. Thank you!

I hope they use the Sulon Cortex on Pokémon. That would be the most amazing thing ever.

I'd be all in for a game that reads your actual surroundings and adds virtual stuff to it
That ista-haircut deserves a like btw

I'm really enjoying the show. You should do an episode on Campers in games.

That bit about crowd-controlled games reminded of what is one of my favorite gaming experiences of all time. At Indiecade 2012 I got a chance to play Renga by wallFour, a game played on a big screen by a large number of people (100+?) using laser pointers. Definitely check it out if you haven't heard of it.

I honestly think Augmented Reality is going to be a huge thing in the next 20 years. Imagine playing a game that plays like an MMO and Geocache hunt. I could see this being a real big thing.

First of all, that closing comment on your hair: GOLDEN! It actually, really made me laugh out loud in my living room. My wife came in to ask what I was laughing at and I replayed that bit, and she laughed too. Fantastic response, Jamin.

Now, to the subject: If I look back just 20 years to when I was 13, I don't think even the wildest scifi could have convinced me of what we have today: Direct digital downloads at the click of a button, fully immersive 3D worlds that can be generated unique to every player, games that are not about actually playing to win, or not die, but purely to experience a story (I'm looking at you, "To The Moon"), and the rise of actual, functional, but still chronic headache inducing virtual reality.

Heck, 10 years ago, seeing how fast things are progressing, I'd have laughed at the idea that one of the most successful games of the next decade would be a low-res cube based blocky world builder with questionable physics and minimal animations.

5 years ago I wouldn't have believed that some of the most popular games of today would be on mobile platforms.

And 1 year ago, I would never have believed that any video game could earn one billion dollars in 24 hours (Why... why did it have to be CoD?!?).

I love reading Sci Fi. I fall head-over-heals into the worlds of John Scalzi, James SA Corey, Ian Banks or Issac Asimov. They try to predict where things will go, but honestly, none of us know where things will be in 5, 10, or 20 years. Star Trek had bulky single-purposes communication devices, where we have powerful, multipurpose mobile phones in our pockets. I'm excited to see the world in the next decade and beyond. It won't be anything we predict, and we'll be amazed we ever lived without this thing or that thing. Fun!

I think by 2060 we will do most of our work, play, and education in virtual space. Going out for physical entertainment will become a kind of novelty, only enjoyed in small doses. And I'm totally down for this by the way.

I'd kind of want to see a vid about Pokemon and as to how Smogon has become an authority on competitive game play whether some trainers agree with it or not.

war should be fought in games and all governements should vote for who is the winner when a 7 day(or however long the war needs to be) war have been fought.

I love your channel. Keep it up! I see the Google Glass type interface opening up a huge opportunity for LARP style games. Instead of homemade armor you can have virtual stats and abilities that other players can see. There are so many amazing possibilities with this technology! If my phone telling me that zombies are chasing me gets me off my butt and running, just imagine what an interface that shows me actual baddies and plots my escape route  would do. I'm very excited for the future. What a time to be alive.

I think it would be cool in the future for an integration of games and 3D printing technology. Like in the future there would be a game like Skylanders or Disney Infinity but instead of purchasing figures you can design them yourself and print them out. The figure you make would hold your data like Skylanders and you can bring them to your friend's house and it would work on their portal of power.

Although i think that idea of 3D printed figures in videogames would work better for an augmented reality tabletop RPG.
