This band carried forward the millennia-steeped culture of the ages overflowing with wisdom, sharing with all the love of the ancients. I feel the nostalgia of my earliest childhood years.

Love these Native American master musicians! Redbone has written so many wonderful songs and have not received the recognition they deserve. Just listen to their songs! Hall of Fame!

i have heard from people who have visited it that you can feel the misery and hopelessness, and when you leave you feel drained. thank you for singing about things that mattered, redbone will never be forgotten by real human beings. rip lolly.

they sure dont teach this stuff in school. they can barely handle telling kids that california belongs to la indigena without an insane uproar.
what a beautiful, gentle song. a very quiet yet powerful eye opener.
redbone is forever, redbone lives in us all. <3 ☮️💖⚧
and on this note, lets take a second to remember all the innocent brothers and sisters and all of our long lost family locked behind bars of institutional racism. im not a poet, i just talk a lot but... thanks redbone <3

I have lived in this city a long time, and I have yet to step foot on Alcatraz. Reason is, I can stand on the water at the Marina, look across at the it, and feel the pain radiate clean over to where I stand.

Occupation of Alcatraz Island
For 19 months, a group of 89 college students of American Indians of all tribes occupied an island off San Fransico Bat demanding federal funds for a cultural and education center.

What a beautiful song. Love Pat's vocals & harmonizing (against his own vocal!!) here. oxoxoxo Hey did u know this 1970 song commemorates the Indians of All Tribes (IAT) Occupation of Alcatraz Island? Redbone was super badass. In the early 1970's their records were banned in the U.S. b/c they wrote about shit that mattered.

Richard Oakes was an incredible spokesman and person. Wish he could have lived longer so we could have seen all that he would have accomplished.
