Thank you for this! I'm currently trying to figure our what version I should get since I'm planning on getting a perpetual licence. I just want to make sure I'm getting what I'm looking for!

I agree with you. Instead of telling which the best version is, I now see why it's a controversial question. It's about what we are looking for.
This seems like the perfect version, but if someone is not looking for bending and all that smoothness and perfection and wants less realistic and more "glitchy, jerky, rough" cartoons like oldschool, where you drew mostly everything, you'd want to get a simpler version. Old toons have this dreamy look because of that and new ones are too smooth and realistically moving on higher frame rate, which is why they lack that magic. And to add to it, the dreamy motion blur and film grain and all that extra textures come from shooting on film and paper textures, so it all just depends what look and animation people want and what they wish to go with, keeping in mind all the restrictions and time consuming work.
I know that we can lower the frame rate 12, but we will still need After Effects for the motion blur using cc force motion blur, or convert our images to film and run them through a projector and record that with a DSLR. So many things we can do. People choose the easiest fastest, but unless we have time and money restrictions, it's not always the most ideal way to get the best.
So I guess the ideal question would be, "What's the best version for getting "this certain" look?"

Amazing video I love the “doo doo doo” at 3:06 😂. I dunno if you would know this, but is tweeting possible in the essential version? I’m kind of a beginner on a budget and I love doing a mix of both traditional frame by frame AND tweening :0

I mainly want to do traditional frame by frame animation with my characters. is essentials good enough for that? also is there a website or page on toonboom that list all of the tools for each type of Harmony to compare?

What about old school versions, due to financial reasons and frequency of use, I'm not inclined to upgrade or purchase newer versions, hence I currently own Toonboom Animate. Believe it or not, I upgraded to this years ago from the very first entry level version called Toonboom. I never really got around to really going deep with the program
My questions, isn't this "good enough" to pull off semi-professional productions, shorts, or quick animations over live-action like infomercials, etc., TY ahead of time.
