As I sit in the hospital, waiting for my husband who is having a heart procedure, this calms my soul. ❤️

To the guy who made the rocking chair: keep it! In my family, we have a rocking horse that is about 140 years old and generation after generation of kids have been photographed in it. Wouldn't it be cool if 100+ years from now some great-great grandchild of yours sits in the chair you made while someone explains who made it.

My dog, Monster, doesn't like strangers and doesn't approve of strangers. He wants nothing to do with strangers and will stay away from strangers. He does not like strangers touching him.
Our satellite guy came by to install the new satellite dish and boxes. So he's moving throughout the rooms and I hear. "Hey buddy." I pop my head in the room and seen my dog sitting in front of this total stranger letting him pet him. The guy asks me his name and I tell him. The gets up and walks off to the other room leaving my dog in the room, to which the guy calls out cheerfully. "Come on, Monster!" And my dog actually jumps up with glee instead of fright and prances into the other room. Afterwards, my dog was happily following this guy around everywhere.
I'll never forget that guy and how he was emotionally able to touch my dog like that in just a few short hours.

1:20 Best. Grandma. Gift. EVER!!!

2:34 If only all noisy babies on airplanes had their own comedy hype-man, noisy babies on airplanes would probably cease to cause me to wish there was a way to jump out the windows.

2:57 First, I can't believe this is a new thing. (Seriously, WTH took so long?!) Second, "Another trip around the Sun" is the absolute best way to refer to a year that has gone by.

6:13 Why don't I know this man's name? Why doesn't everybody know this man's name? What a wonderful human being. How is it I can easily rattle off the names of 100 useless, spoiled celebrities and at least 20 notorious killers, but this guy I'm just hearing about? Something is WRONG with us, my fellow humans. Very wrong.

8:48 I'm training a service dog right now (my second personal dog) and I'm SO waiting for a good kid's movie to take her out to! I discovered at some point that if you ask the theater you plan to go to about times reserved for sensory-friendly showings, those make fantastic training session films. They lower the volume, the lights are on, and you're welcome to walk around and be active and talk. It's generally for kids and adults who need that extra ADHD relieving freedom or those who have sensory issues especially with noise, and because of this, NO ONE judges a service dog training in there. Plus, sometimes, they take a break halfway through for intermissions and bathroom breaks, which is a great chance to potty the dog. I am so glad they are becoming a more common thing because I genuinely find them to be so therapeutic. And, who doesn't like a big fluffy dog to play with during intermission? (My current dog is SUPER kid-friendly, so I'm okay with being approached, which is necessary for these showings.) It's totally okay if she barks, too, which makes it ideal for me to correct her without being judged.
Sometimes, that little extra things make it great.
And to make things better: our theater is one of the few places with an elevator, so I get to train her on that, too. Or the escalator (she gets carried). It's such a great way to expose her to new things.

Great collection!
I went to my bestie’s defense of her thesis (and you must also understand that she worked on her freaking doctorate through a diagnosis and subsequent treatment of breast cancer). She was on fire! When she came back into the room and one of the professors she had worked with introduced her as Doctor…I cried (and am doing so now thinking about it). I also whooped obnoxiously

I needed this. It’s easy to be overwhelmed by the sad/bad in the world and then be uplifted by stories of happiness and love. I feel better now, thanks 😀❤️

The matching bandaid really touched me. It demonstrates the total rejection of ppl with different skin. As a white, I mean too white for the bandaids, I've been sensitive to the stupid phrase 'skin colored'. It's as stupid as one size fits all.

When I defended my dissertation and was sent out to wait, my advisor came out and said Doctor! And grabbed me for a bear hug. Then told me he wasn’t supposed to have told me and for me to act surprised in front of the committee!
