The BJP-led Assam government has mandated that all new applicants for Aadhaar cards in Assam must submit their NRC application receipt number. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed that Aadhaar cards in some districts exceeded the population. The government believes this move will help curb the influx of illegal foreigners. Sarma stated that the government will intensify the identification process of illegal foreigners, with several Bangladeshis apprehended and handed over to authorities in the last two months. #assam #aadhaarcard #nrc #illegalforeigners #himantabiswasarma #indiatoday #newsat9
