A Hebrew teacher said we can't really say goodbye cause it sounds so final so we rather say "lehitraot" which means "see you again"... so I'm a bit confused now, , , does it mean goodbye or see you again ? Or both ?

I thought Shalom meant, Peace, hello, and GOODBYE

In Israel we almost never use this fancy words. Everyone just says Bye exactly like in English.
