As a native speaker (I am an English teacher now which is why I watch this channel for ideas...) As a native speaker who's worked in a call center for 15 years... you'd be surprised by how many grown American native speakers actually say bye bye all the time... especially old people.

Very helpful indeed. I wish I would have known all this 50 years ago, especially before my first visit to England. And I am totally jealous to all the young people nowadays, who have all these possibilities to brush up their English. There was nothing like it in the 1970ies, when I was at school. We had the teacher and one book, and that was it. Internet? We didn't even know that word.

Hi Greg, thank you for the nice video.
I was wondering if "so long" is considered outdated, I remember learning it at school a long, long time ago.

Love how "Bye bye" is childish, but "TARA" is perfectly fine for adults 😂

Today's video has been very formative, in my opinion, the use of these ways to say bye-bye supposes a step more in our fluency and above all in our confidence, thanks for your professionality and, Cheerio!

I'm a native New Yorker an English is my first language. Bye-bye has been my go-to when leaving somebody. In Brooklyn we can say it sarcastically or just meaning see you later. There was a skit on Saturday Night Live where the pilots and flight attendants said bye-bye to everyone deplaning. It was funny and very American. Maybe it's said all around the world now. Aloha
