Rich Lowry, in the law, there is the concept of ‘willful blindness’. Simply because a defendant chooses to actively avoid the truth, you can’t say ‘the truth doesn’t exist’ and then try to use lack of intent or lack of knowledge as a legal defense. Again, a defendant is still guilty even when they manage to avoid accepting the truth.
