Показать описание
February is Black History Month and the first day of the month is National Freedom Day, a national holiday that commemorates the day in 1865 when President Abraham Lincoln signed what would later become the 13th Amendment. David W. Blight, Sterling Professor of American History and Director of the Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance, and Abolition (GLC) at the MacMillan Center, recently interviewed Ambassador (ret.) Luis C.deBaca, Senior Fellow in Modern Slavery at the GLC, about what National Freedom Day is, how is came to be, and his role in it.
