I had a 20 year career in the Australian government as a public servant, reaching management levels in key government departments. I was pretty miserable for most of that time. I finally couldn’t take it anymore and left. I now drive a bus and love almost every moment at work. I earn as much as my bosses in the public service due to the overtime I work. The successful people in life are those who earn enough money doing something they enjoy. If someone looks down on me for my second career, that’s a reflection on them, not on me.

Thanks for this video dude. I currently have a professional office gig, and have for the past 20+ years but I’m so tired of the life. I am seriously considering a career change and public bus driving is one of them. The pay and benefits are awesome, and at least you’re outside and meeting people. Office life sucks now.

Sometimes I try to be that awesome rider, like thank you as I get on and as I get off and everything’s fine.

Sometimes I just wanna pay my fare and get on. Just depends how my days going.

A lot of times I’m having a bad day and the driver making a simple greeting makes a huge difference in my day. That goes both ways. Drivers don’t even know what a difference that makes.

So beeing a commuter myself and taking the bus I am a working pianist at that I spend my life behind the keys hahaha. Well, anyways I got on the bus to make my connection home this past friday evening after work and the bus driver was a bit sad. She was super super happy to see me and she was so relieved when she saw me. She had told me as we were traveling that she had a really nasty passenger that morning that just threw her day off and she felt really terrible that whole day. She was so happy it was like i came and saved her life hahaha. Bus drivers need to bee appreciated. I have been listening to these videos to see what you all do to keep us safe going to and from and commuting. Many people take this for granted. Well, just letting you know that you have over 100 percent respect comming from me. Comming from a commuter. I have chatted with some of the bus drivers about their work and they are so happy to tell me about it.I love the personalities of the bus drivers because the vehicle that they are hauling is not an easy thing to mess with. Small and big buses. They have a very important job and I think and feel that the job of a bus driver is well under appreciated. You think car drivers are bad and they are but even bus passengers can bee just as bad complaining at everything about the bus how they have to wait or the bus running late when we passengers don’t even have a clue what is going on. we just see it from the passenger’s windows sort of speak. We don’t know what the bus driver has to deal with until we hear about it. But thanks to you all for everything. Sometimes, I have gotten so teared up listening to these videos because of the things you do. Happy tears though hahaha. Some of the things that even bus drivers have told me have been emotional. How they decided to get the job I mean you bus drivers are really making an impact on us and all a passenger can do most of the time is take it for granted and complain. This is so wrong. I am one of those ones that has expressed to the bus drivers that i not only love my job my gigs that i do as a pianist but one of the best parts of my work day is to get to ride the bus. I love to ride the bus. If it wasn’t for you all I wouldn’t have a relaxing way to get to work. I just called tranzit in my area and wrote something up about one of the drivers. It was a complement about how she handled her bus and how she got me to make my connection safe to work. Keep it up. I don’t just thank my area bus drivers but i thank all of you who deal with us on a day to day basis.
