Boone’s shock at hearing those rankings tells me that the Yankees analytics team does not actually look at verifiable data of what is actually happening to fix problems and likely uses some type of simulation/assumed data when making decisions. This is honestly eye opening as to how decisions are made because they are clearly not made in reality

In fairness, he is correct that when you suck, you can find outlier stats where you suck even more than the average amount that you suck. You can suck and find the odd outlier stat where you get all the way to decent. That's what they kept trotting out there for IKF's defensive metrics at short. He sucked, so they cherry picked anything that wasn't THAT bad.

Ive always been a proponent of swinging at the first pitch. You wanna talk about making careers out of it? 1st pitch is always the best. My College batting average was .563 on the 1st pitch playing at Franklin Pierce in NH. D2. i hit .248 on all other pitches not the 1st pitch. I hit .347 for my career. Did A LOT of swinging at first pitch. Too many guys lace a fastball right down Broadway trying to get ahead.

It's a lot of pitch taking. I'm a MA resident new to sports gambling, so now that I watch tons of at-bats, I can't believe how many strikes in good counts get looked at league-wide, but especially the Yankees.

First pitch takes too. I get it, they want to see a couple to get their timing, but damn if they're nearly always the most hittable pitches of all at-bats.
