The moment you switch the mic, noise floor drop!! Wow!

Couldn't watch live this week.... Rycote low noise floor is indeed impressive. Much better overall freq balance with hi-pass switched out.

Once I gave one SDC mic a shot. It was advertised as one of the quietest SCD mic on the market 13dB(A). It turned out to be a big scam. Quite a few people in forums noticed that self noise of these mics was horrendous. I found the same thing in my testing which was a pity since their tonality was lovely. I dug a bit and found how sound on promo recordings was manipulated with noise being crudely removed. Since then I am a bit sceptical whenever some cheap newbie brand release something advertised as a best in class... These really sound quiet though. And are much more expensive. So I wait for the full review.

Hi Curtis, hope you are well. How does the Atomos Ninja V+ audio quality compare with Sound Devices Mix-Pre 6 ii ? Is better to use Atomos solely for video and capture audio on Sound Devices? I have ordered both of these devices. Also how would I connect MixPre to Ninja V+, so the audio is managed on the MixPre and then comes into the Ninja V+. Which cable would I need?

I missed Sunday, but I have a good excuse--I was editing video shot very early that morning and I just forgot! But my video turned out nice.

Hi Curtis. Will you be comparing the Rycote mics to the Sennheiser MKH 50? About to buy a mic and am tempted by the HC-15. Thanks
