Malaska Golf // Alignment at Impact - Getting in the Right Position

Показать описание
I get a lot of questions about impact position and how your arms, wrist, the club shaft and club face should be aligned to hit the ball straight. The simple answer is that you can't force it. The momentum and weight of the club is what directs our body. Feel how the club works around you. Let the weight of the club straighten your arms. The position you're looking for will happen naturally when you start understanding how to offset the forces at play in your golf swing.

Don't just play golf. Understand it.

So basically, we amateurs, need to relax and not try to ‘hit’ the ball. Too much tension and focus on getting into positions and the hit, seems to be the problem. Maybe we all need to go to yoga and relaxation classes before a round 🤣

Sounds too simple but its true the swing can and should be simple the body will move into those positions easily with some drills to get the feeling of the club.

Thanks, Mike...Best $10 golf aid ever...FOOT SPRAY. At address, I have always aligned the center arrow on top of my driver to 3:00 on the back of the ball. Your comment about the arms elongating from momentum made me realize that the club is moving AWAY during the downswing---and also closing a few degrees on the slight upswing before ball impact. (AHA MOMENT) Thus, I tended to hit towards the heel of the driver and fade. Easily confirmed with the foot spray to the club face. Now, I address a few degrees open, and the center arrow on top of my driver is closer to 5:00 on the ball at address. Just using my normal swing path, and hitting the sweet spot more often with much more efficiency.

This is one of the hardest questions I ever got teaching/coaching. I usually demonstrated it with a chip or pitch. Really hard for me to convey verbally.

Love your way of teaching things Mike!!!! I was wondering: if my best shots are the ones that are effortless, how can I practice to get that swing faster for more distance?
Thanks have a great Day!
Michael

If is not too much trouble, i would like your feedback,
I’m interested to know if the lead knee on the golf swing transition would have enough force to cause strain and ultimately damage the knee.
I have notice that when I swing the lead foot wants to turn 90* to my target and since I’m not able to, would this cause a knee injury on my lead knee?
