Now I understand how this is different. I’m having this done in three weeks. The materials I’ve been given talk about the abductor nerve block, but I now realize it is site specific - and you mention that this specificity lets the other muscles work. And that explains how patients can walk home that day. (Walk to the car.)

I did this
Worked for me. Active skinny female. No comorbid conditions. 59 years old. I am also an RN. Did my own Lovenox injections post op. Back to work 6 weeks post op part time 4 hours a day.

I had both done as outpatient (5 months apart) the first week is painful. Do preop exercises! It helps a lot.

Nope! I stayed overnight. That night when nurses got me up I fainted and fell. Since I was going home alone the physician opted to keep me a second night. I have to say the pain management protocols used were very effective. While outpatient is now the hospital and physician preferred option, individual patient conditions must be the basis for determining inpatient versus outpatient. for billing purposes the hospital billed Medicare as an outpatient since the number of hours did not meet inpatient guidelines.

Nonetheless, I essentially stayed two nights in the hospital and was successfully discharged home alone to recover

Shots are called genicular, they can burn this nerves and no need for replacement
