" If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you can use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing. " - Chuck Yeager

Give this man some credit 👏 👏👏. Others only show perfect landings.

Had a particularly FIRM landing in Chicago some years back. Passenger while disembarking stuck his head into the cockpit and asked who the Navy pilot was.

Coming from a guy with over 10000 hours in 737s…. Everyone’s first landing in a 737 is a rough one! It’s not an easy airplane to land smoothly. It’s easy to be safe but finesse takes some time. A thing that’s gets people is when your eyes transition from the aim point on the runway to the end to judge your flare there is a tendency to let the nose come up and then you end up a bit high and have to put it down. Also with any jet with underslung engines when you add power the nose comes up, so when you add power be ready to either add fwd pressure or trim to compensate. That relationship between elevator and thrust lever takes some time to get used to but when you get it your approaches become more stable and landings improve.

That's the kind of landing that will get you a job at Ryanair without an interview!

Gets me thinking how impressively fast everything happens in bigger jets. Would have taken me like 3-4 minutes to fly that final in the Cessna.

Seeing this reminded me of a 737 landing we had in Chicago once. It was very hard and scared a bunch of people. The pilot came on and said, "Sorry, we just wanted to make sure everyone was awake." It was not as bad as the one I had in Chicago and I am sure that that was not the pilots first landing. Thanks for sharing that.

No matter how “bumpy” the landing is, you landed your first 737. Congrats to you💪🏽

Your landing was perfectly ok for a first landing man don't worry about it you'll be doing great i'm sure. Just don't think too much about it.

The most amazing thing around here is, that a lot of other pilots give absolutely great feedback and it's a pleasure to read it (as a non pilot) and it's so damn interesting! Seems like a healthy community :)

Definitely not a hard landing, but a firm one. It is acceptable for the first landing. Approach was ok and stable. If there was a little bit more flare between 10-20 feet it would have been a perfect landing for the first time. Keep up the good work. You will be fine. Just try to look more to the runway after 500 feet. Once visual fly the aircraft to the runway by making sure the runway centerline goes through your body and check back inside for speed and ground speed versus vertical speed. Don’t just follow the flight directory. Crosscheck is essential. Congrats from a 737 instructor with more than 15.000 hours on all variants including 300 to MAX.

Firm landing not hard. Hard means structural check by ground crew to ensure no damage. Great one! Congrats

Congratulations on your first 737 landing. My first one in March 1982 was on Boeing 737 -200 and the chief stewardess came up as we were taxing in and asked that" as I'd planted it, would I now like a watering-can to water it " !!! 😝 they progressively got better( though not always )over a 37 year career...

biggest tip w the 73 for short final... keep er coming down on PAPI/VASI 2 white 2 red aiming for between the numbers and thousand footers until you hear "30" and then start the round out to flare naturally but keep thrust in. When you hear "10" cut thrust instantly and you will touchdown smoothly approx 1500ft beyond the threshold. I'm sure you will nail it the second time. Great video man! :)

A friend of mine, 737 pilot at Olympic Airways back in the time used to say that they "found water" when they had a firm landing.

For a first time landing a 737 in real life I'd say it's perfect! Keep up the good work

Great landing!!! Pull back a little bit at 30ft, push forward a little bit at 10ft. It’s worked great for me for the last 28 years in a 73.
