Tennessee House Falling Into Sinkhole

Показать описание
After living in her Tennessee home for 20 years, Amanda Blount noticed cracks in the walls. A large sinkhole developed underneath Amanda's home, making the simple task of walking around difficult. The limestone found in much of Tennessee can be prone to sinkholes. But years before this happened, Amanda bought sinkhole insurance. The cost to save this house has reached almost $400,000. Because of the forethought to buy insurance, Amanda has only had to pay $4,000 out of pocket.

Good for her paying attention And noticing the issue.

That’s crazy, what if a house sized sinkhole opened up while she was sleeping? I couldn’t live in a situation like that

They need to get out. A man lost his brother inside their home to a sinkhole. Was terrible. And who can live like that? It has to be enormously stressful even outside the danger.

No engineer would say that house is safe! No insurance company would insure a house in that condition!

It was a guy in Florida that was watching tv in his house and a sink hole formed, his brother and another family member was able to escape the other guy was never seen again, why would an engineer say it’s safe to stay there 🤷🏾‍♂️

How is the house not just condemned?
Don't know what the deal with insurance is, but I would imagine just relocating her would be more effective. And for her it would just be more comfortable, safe, and convenient.

Only in the state of Tennessee would one be allowed to remain in a house with a giant hole in the floor.

I have seen houses in worse condition be condemned due to unsafe conditions. How she is allowed to live there is beyond negligence on the engineer’s part.

I’m just relieved that she’d thought ahead with the insurance. I just feel bad that she’s got to live like that until it gets all fixed

When I was working for dish network it wasn’t uncommon not to see a floor missing.

I'm wondering if it would be cheaper for the insurance company to pay to have the house moved to another spot, or another property.

A perfect opportunity to build a large and unique cellar. 😂. (or a private batcave)

Why at this point would the insurance not total the house? It could be bulldozed and rebuilt with bedrock anchors.

Seems it would be cheaper for the insurance company to have the house leveled and pay out for the cost of a new home.
