End-stage Kidney Transplant | Dr. Anil Kumar BT

Показать описание
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a nephrological condition in which the kidneys are damaged and unable to filter toxins from the blood. When CKD persists for too long, it gradually results in end-stage renal disorder, where the functioning of kidneys is lost, leading to the organ's failure.
In the initial stages of chronic kidney disease, a person might not have any signs or symptoms. As CKD progresses to end-stage kidney disease, it might show symptoms like:
-Nausea and vomiting
-Loss of appetite
-Fatigue and weakness
-Chest pain
-Shortness of breath
-Swelling of feet and ankles
-High blood pressure (hypertension)
-Muscle twitches and cramps
-Metallic taste
End-stage renal disorder (ESRD) can be managed by dialysis, but it's not a permanent solution. A person will need to visit the dialysis center several times a week. A kidney transplant is the best solution for people with ESRD.
A kidney transplant is a surgical procedure to place a healthy kidney from a live or deceased donor into a person whose kidneys no longer function properly. The surgery involves putting the new kidney in your lower abdomen and attaching the blood vessels and ureter (the tube that links the kidney to the bladder).
Compared with dialysis, kidney transplant is associated with:
-Better quality of life
-Lower risk of death
-Fewer dietary restrictions
-Lower treatment cost
