Socialism would work great except for two major issues of inevitability. 1) Human nature in the work force. 2) Collective government power (managed by humans) results in corruption every time no matter how noble it starts out as. This explains why in every truly socialist nation the workers aren't incentivized to work any harder than the next worker receiving the same benefit leading to poor overall production. Ultimately all that limited wealth and perks are channeled to only the few that make and enforce the rules.

People have already argued there point as why socialism just does not work partly in theory and a lot in practice but all I want to say is that as you mentioned many countries will be capitalist but still hold different socialist values for caring for workers as an example but only really that. All the rest is capitalist and that’s good as individual freedom and growth on your own is a good thing and creativity and joy is brought through this. (By the way the comment on the workers values I made was meant to be a positive thing about having only a couple socialist values)

If you were an educator you would accept that socialism has only ever ended in one way
The government collapsing via revolution as the people do not want to starve anymore under the oppressive class that is in the government

however free enterprise “capitalism” works as follows a person buys what they want informing the business that they should produce more rather than the government controlled economy of the socialist system

"The goal of capitalism is profits, which is distributed to the owners of the means of production." This is wrong. Capitalism doesn't have 'a goal' like socialism does. People have goals, and capitalism is the belief that you should keep it if you achieve it. Even if that goal is a productive means. It is the social contract that risk should scale with reward.
Socialism is the belief that life could be improved for certain groups of people if the above social contract is adjusted in some respects, usually by the state. There is also the definition that Socialism is the state ownership of industries, but I don't think many labour union members for example, are thinking of that when they advocate better working hours or holiday pay etc, they want a better working life, they don't care in what capacity some suit is directing the company.
