Security Officer SIA Licence-linked Top-up Training

Top-up training is required for all security officers who are renewing their license after October 1st, 2021

The top-up course requires you to come in and train in a classroom environment for one day and receive training on terror threat awareness and minimizing personal risk for security officers.

There are two multiple-choice exams, and you will need a pass mark of 70% to complete the course. The SIA has created this new requirement to bring your skills up to date with the current security risks and threats.

It is also mandatory that you have first aid training, which can be booked as part of your top-up training course. If you already have a First Aid qualification it needs to have 12 months left before it expires for it to be accepted by the SIA.

Our Emergency First Aid at work course can be completed before your top-up training, where we will take you through various first aid scenarios as well as a multiple-choice assessment. This qualification is valid for three years.
