I think i'm one of the youngest to have taken the door supervisor course i turned 18 on June 14th 2021 although i didn't go through get licensed to book my course i did use the mock exams and i felt extremely confident on passing first try on everything i am yet to find out my results and cannot wait to. Even if i fail one of the test i'm sure i'll pass on a retake.

‘door supervisor’, ‘static guard’. I don’t like those titles, they don’t refer well what the job involves, they sound quite passive. I’m a guard and I’m not static, I’m a security in a club and the job goes behind the doors.

In the US they don't teach you how to do safe takedowns or control holds, you have to figure it out yourself. I was lucky enough to have 10 years of martial art experience before doing security. But, they will teach you in great detail on taser and firearms. I started from doing observe and report to fully armed hands on.

You forget to also mention that being a security officer is zero hours and you have to hope you get enough shifts each week to pay your bills.

Job titles aren't fixed, just like needing an SIA Licence at all isn't fixed. If you do in-house security you don't need an SIA Licence at all.
