Today is Joni's 77th birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY JONI!!!

She writes the music, sings, plays the instruments, arranges, and does the cover art for her albums. Gorgeous, stage presence etc. NO ONE has ever been more the complete package. NO ONE.

A great song.
The story is so specific. Joni on a Paris trip with founder of Asylum records, and later Dreamworks, David Geffen, and Robbie Robertson (from The Band) and his wife. But she observes the effect of the vacation on her friend, David. She writes about it minute detail, but it becomes relatable and almost universal. Amazing.
And the music is so unique. Just wonderful. One of my favorites of hers.

The honesty in her lyrics though. She could be singing about what she had for lunch but still make it sound so wonderful and true!

Joni painted every one of her album covers and continued to paint long after she recorded. I was lucky enough to meet her in an art gallery in the 80's. She is amazing at art, all forms. Enjoy your journey.

And Joni too! Amazing, love all the 60/70's California sound, Poco, Eagles, Buffalo Springfield, Mama' and the papa's, Flying burrito brothers, Carpenters, CSNY, Jackson Browne, the Byrds.
I know that they not al originate in California, but they all went there and knew eachother. That's how I see it from far away in the Netherlands.

I always considered Court and Spark her best work. Fantastic band, her vocals more earthy and pleasing to the ear, killer lyrics too. I've been listening to this masterpiece for 49 years. It is so wonderful that people are still discovering her magic.
