People always say “Pete was ahead of his time.” Well, no one today or ever really has played like Pete. He was truly timeless. Like a comet in the night sky only to be enjoyed for such a small moment, then it’s gone forever. You are in the heart of every kid at the playground dreaming of playing in the nba. RIP Pete

When he was "on" there was never anyone more fun to

Pete is the only player I can think of from that era, that no one doubts his game. You could plug him in the game today, & especially today, & he'd still be a HoF. I can only imagine him playing in the 80s & 90s. Ahead of his time.

Known for his scoring but Pete was the greatest PASSER ever. I'm old and have seen them all. Nobody comes close. Nobody.

This guy had nasty handles. Imagine if these guys had the same basketball shoes we have today

I remember watching him playing for the Jazz mostly. He was really an original and one of the best ball handlers ever.

Very appropriate soundtrack! I read a great quote about him, something like this: Pete was playing music no one was ready to listen to. Now people are ready but no one knows the words /lyrics.

Subtlety and hesitation are extremely underrated skills for athletes. I think the tendency for most people is to go as fast and as strong as possible all the time. It's rare to see an athlete like this, make such effective use of 3/4 speed hesitations. Awesome to watch. Sad, I'm too young to have ever seen him live.

Not many video highlights of Pistol Pete because 1970's NBA was rarely televised... His legend was built mostly as a result of word of mouth - so when you see many of these videos they show the same highlights you've already seen. But truth is, the dude was a revolutionary basketball player whose career was limited by injury.

Gotdamn! Was he an awesome passer.
Awesome court vision, spatial awareness, and creativity. Combined with what appear to be some very large hands for a guard.

Updated! With better quality and a bit more - rare - footage. Make sure to watch it in HD. Sorry for the comments in the previous version(s) of the video being lost, but I really had to make some changes. Hope everyone enjoys it, Pistol Pete certainly is one of the best all-time players to watch... 2018 marks the 30th year since his tragic death...
