The Mazda RX-8 is now a long standing member of the Gran Turismo roster - at least until GT SPORT where it was strangely missing. Now returning in GT7 while simultaneously making its debut at the same time thanks to this being a 2012 facelift model, along with a screaming 787B engine swap option firmly on the table, Mazda's legendary 4 door sports car is back with a bang!

So let's hit the streets of Tokyo to try it out in practice...

People don't give the RX8 enough credit, especially any of the series 2 models (2009-2012), the engine was improved and way more reliable, it had an improved Powertrain Control Module, much larger and more practical location for the oil filter, more oil injectors, a much stronger transmission with better and closer gear ratios and overall better rigidity. Overall it's amazing make sure to get yourself a good exhaust system with no catalytic converter, remove the emissions system, make sure to premix and at the end of each trip give it the 9K Treatment and you'll be treated to loud pops and bangs, with 0 tune, it's done to clean out the built up fuel and oil in the pipes that wasnt burnt in the exhaust.

Fun fact about that 787B swap scenario. The original and the RX7 with that engine has 5 gears. The RX8 with said engine has 6. Screams update bias to me but I don't really care because I prefer the RX8 over the 7 anyways.

Works nicely with the 787B swap. It's a bit squirrelly in comparison to the RX7 FD, but it can be tuned mostly out. Tire wear is rough for a no stopper on the LM race, but fuel is no problem is the swap. I did an ArtNature livery for it that is shared.

As an RX-8 owner, it's a fun car to drive and own. On a fresh rebuild or properly maintained engine, you can push this car to its limits without worrying if you're going to wrap yourself around a tree.

As for the GT7 version, it's fun to build and tune knowing you won't get anywhere as close in real life without an engine swap.

the rx8 is a sleeper car in terms of handling it had 30k points of torsional rigidity were the fd had 15k and the e36 m3 had 10k. also it outclasses the ferrari 360 and matches the 911 of ist era.

New update out now!! It’s awesome! 2 tracks, 4 cars & fixed payouts for single player never mind none of that happened.

I Remember the RX-7 used to be a beast without a engine swap and RX-8
