This was done on bedrock, the most optimized version of Minecraft yet. Now in Java, this would be way more effective because not only soul sand elevators use actual bubbles as supposed to an animated texture, the splashed and the snowballs along with it would clearly bring some frames down. Also, if you use arrows, it is more effective as they store more data, thus making the game laggier.

most java players have the OptiFine mod installed which has a cool feature where if something isn't in sight it won't be rendered, so if the lag machine is covered up or if you're just facing away from it you won't get hardly as much lag.
