Actually, I no longer even think about which operating system is running on my PC...

It just runs btw :)

When you grew up with it, getting rid of Windows is like getting rid of an addiction.

Yesterday I was about to reinstall Windows, then a video if Chris Titus popped up and they've discovered that Windows Recall is gonna be installed in every single computer that will """upgrade""" to 24H2....

I've stayed on Linux 💪🏻

I agree on the community based approach Linux takes. Being able to report issues on Github actually gets you somewhere. Where as when you submit feedback in Windows, it just gets ignored.

I am concerned about the long-term health of gaming on Linux. I thought we would see more native ports by now. I don't trust Microsoft not intentionally breaking proton compatibility with new DX versions.

On a side note/rant: I'm really getting tired of these Youtubers making videos about trying Linux for one week and then saying it's terrible and that they went happily went back to Windows. That's not a fair amount of time to decide something like that. It feels like they are just trying to trash Linux and chase people away from it.

I just like actually having control over how my PC works. That's it. Plus all my games run fine, sometimes even better than on Windows, and not to mention almost every de/window manager has a better workflow than Windows. Gnome with a few extensions is THE most efficient GUI I've ever used

My first steps were on DOS 5.2 and Win 3.1. and played old games like Kyrandia, Kings Quest, OMF 2097 and whatever while trying to have enough EMS to launch them... XD
Then I got Suse Linux from a Linux magazine and i tried it out, dualbooted with Win95/Win98 for some years.
I tried figuring out a bug in Linux for my soundcard, but never succeeded. So I've discarded Linux for about ~12 years.
When the eleventh iteration of Windows was presented, I'd rather giving up gaming and go back to Linux.
I'm really enjoying Linux with Proton-Gaming, though sometimes it's still a hassle. There are still some good native Linux games like Factorio or X4F, some small/indie studios do have native versions as well. But you can count native versions for MMOs on one hand.

There are only two things I use windows for now. Printer maintenance, and occasionally I want to print 4 pictures on one page. In Linux I haven't found a simple way to manage my old epson printer. And I have yet to find a way to quickly select 4 photos and print them to one page. But I feel sick when i switch over, knowing that all those updates are running in the back ground, and that they will be reinstalling Edge on the computer again, sigh. Thanks for the video 🙂

I use Linux for four years on my laptop and PC. Love open source and community. Still, I hope there will be more companies producing products with Linux OSes like Steam Deck

Iv been using linux past 5 months, and the more i use it, the more it makes sense with how it works. Used windows last night to play fortnite with my kids and maybe bias here but my god its gross. File system really is an absolute mess.

I've been using Linux exclusively since 2012 (dual boot for years before that) and I can't imagine using anything else...

You forgot the best part about gaming on Linux! When people ask you to play Destiny 2 or Fortnite with them you have a legitimate excuse on why you can't!

I am still hoping for a desktop SteamOS release to replace Bazzite, the audio stuttering is a bit annoying especially since I play alot of indies and jrpgs on my couch rig

Just the fact that even the bigger issues you run into are still very much solvable, and in most cases easier to resolve than on MacOS or Windows, both of whom force their proprietary ways of operating on the user. I can get by on a Mac since it's still POSIX based, but 99% of the things that I like doing and _need_ to do are simply better, easier and more reliable on Linux. Kinda have to at work at least, since we can have a Mac or Windows but not Linux, unfortunately. Lesser of two evils I suppose.

I did my time with Ubuntu as all newbies do, moved on to PopOS for a bit, tried the stable life with Debian, hopped to Arch and came to the conclusion that it's a bit too bleeding edge for me and as of few months ago, finally settled on Fedora which is a nice blend of stability and bleeding edge being a rolling release. Not to mention that dnf is an amazing pkgmgr.

Linux just works and I don't need to fight back my OS like on Windows, if I want a feature - I'll add it

Here in Europe, you uninstall Edge, and doesn't come back. In my main PC i have to use Windows till the end of the year, but i use Fedora KDE on my laptop. I want to change to Fedora Cosmic or KDE, so i will wait a little while.
