Meteorologist here. I regularly have to sit through people who have hired me as an EXPERT WITNESS for the weather give me their hot takes on the "climate hoax" and/or disagree with me when I do anything beyond smile and nod. The dissonance to hire me as the expert witness to prove a weather event with science and facts while also choosing to not believe the science and facts of climate change I present.... Long time viewer, first time commenter. Great stuff!

Colorado here - I miss rain and water. If the ground gets wet, people think, “Oh, it’s rained so much lately, ” completely ignoring the fact that drought is growing more and more year over year and the general population complains about how much rain we’ve gotten whilst watering their GD lawns. We live in a highland desert… even deserts get drought and they can be really bad. But no….. keep building and building, pull down the few trees we have, and get that lawn green and lush with water pulled from the aquifer that is not renewable. All totally normal.

I've been in California for over 20 years, and it seems clear that global warming is really happening. Arguably 20 years isn't enough time to establish a climate trend, but the extreme temperature increases shouldn't be ignored. I regret that my generation is handing off the global warming problem to my son's generation. Working on it as time and money allow.

About a decade ago I worked at a staples fulfillment center loading boxes onto trailers. The trailers are much hotter than it is outside. So one 100+ degree day I started feeling really ill and told my boss i needed to go to the hospital, and they refused to let me leave and made me keep working on threat of termination. Long story short this went on for hours, and I rapidly got worse until I ended up on the floor shaking, sweating, and throwing up bile. It took that for them to finally let me leave and call me an ambulance. These corporations will do absolutely nothing. And on a side note that ambulance ride i was trying to avoid in the first place, cost me 3 grand.

Them: "why are you a leftist?"
Me: "I like human rights, breathable air, and drinkable water."
Them: "How dare you oversimplify that?!"
Me: 🌠

hi, i lived in one of the hottest climates on earth and temperatures rose above 40°c/104°f very frequently both in the rainy and dry season. clothing is a lot more important than some people realise, here's my guide:
- hats are so important, your head can heat up very quickly especially if you have dark hair or are bald
- wear loose clothing whenever you can, colour doesn't matter that much if it's loose but if it's tight don't wear dark colours
- try wearing sandals or flip flops, if you can't look for shoes that can be worn without socks and that are breathable

it has always been disheartening that efforts to reduce climate change has been some of the least taken serious political efforts, yet is one of the most serious (and evolving) global political issues— and one that effects literally all people at that! thanks as always for spreading more awareness, i might actually have to look into solar panels for my rental 💫

We're the frogs, and this pot had been boiling for quite some time. 😔

People are already dying in prisons all over America because they are locked in concrete and steel buildings without air conditioning which seems like torture and a crime against humanity even if cruelty is our usual behaviour, thank you for the excellent information!

We, as Americans, are so freaking greedy, elitist, ignorant & lazy. The things we do to harm others is insidious and morally inhumane. Period. 😢

I’m from San Francisco where Summer never goes above 85. Unfortunately, my grandparents in Japan are landlocked in one of the hottest cities avg 90-100 everyday. It gets hotter everyday year and I fear for the aging population as well as kids and pets burning their feet and hands while outside.

Unlike America, Japan is strict on their heatwave warnings, providing cooling tactics and resources on TV. Sun block such as parasols, arm covers, and neck cooling rings are sold everywhere and you see everybody using them.

If only Americans could popularize these methods, especially parasols, neck rings, and warnings on TV cooling resources could be affordable and known.

I especially feel for the homeless who must sleep on burning concrete or metal with limited shade and resources for cooling, especially in car centric areas where air conditioned stores are few and far between.

This is an international crisis. The fact that people care more about immigration than complete climate collapse is a showcase of the education system.

I've been in Iowa (one of the 'heat belt' states) over ten years now, and it's actually baffling how older folks here will admit it's gotten hotter and more severe every summer, and winter keeps coming late, yet will not believe it has anything to do with manmade climate change. The cognitive dissonance here is intense.

I moved to an apartment with really good central a/c two years ago and there's no way I'll ever go back, I feel so bad for folks without it. 🌠

Architecture grad student here, get yourself some awnings. A lot of the heating a building experiences, especially homes, come from the sunlight coming through your window. The back ends of window design have gotten a lot better in recent decades which prevents hot airflow into your home but most of the heat you experience is from direct sunlight so physically blocking that sunlight outside before it gets in does wonders for keeping your home cool. That will be all.

It is mind blowing that so many people work to prevent real change, leading our planet deeper and deeper into disaster. It will reach a point when no one can ignore it and it will directly impact everyone in more and more severe ways, but by then it will truly be too late. We are rapidly approaching this. The more we speak up, the better, and the more of us speak up, the better. So, everyone, let's all speak up! Let's pressure big corporations and our government officials to take strong and repeated action!

We need more walkable biking mixed zoning and trains and transitions to clean energy vehicles. I hope we can do something to stop this disaster.
Car reliance has been a BIG mistake.

I was a safety supervisor for a large school bus contractor and was required to give a "Heat Illness" lecture every year. However, this company also said fixing air conditioners in the buses was too costly, exaserbating the issue as a malfunctioning air conditioner expells hot air. I personally get extreme migraines due to the heat, which, coincidally, began after spending a very hot summer in a bus with a malfunctioning air conditioner. Even when informed that the special needs kids were suffering heat related symptoms, this corporation focused on the bottom line.

Thank you. All stuff I have been screaming about since the early 90s but was called an extremist over! At least you are willing to acknowledge the issues where far too many would rather bury their heads and think that the planet or rather that we, humans, have a future as normal as now. They see the threat politically, just not planetary. So thank you!

I live in Florida, where it is always hot, and you run the ac 24/7 365 a year. It is far hotter now than when I was a kid in the 70's but don't worry we stopped climate change by officially removing its existence at a state level. Thing I can't understand is why it has not cooled off now that climate change stopped 😮
