And if something tragic had happened, the company would've blamed her. She made the right decision.👍

I would've parked at the first truck stop and refused to move until they fixed it. You, as a professional truck driver, have the right to make those calls.

Even if she doesn’t get fired outright, the company will shadow-fire her…blackball her, make her miserable till she quits.

I retired from trucking after 46 years. I learned that YOU are the captain of your own ship.. It may be their truck but in the end you're the one responsible for everything in that truck day in and day out..

What company???
And she absolutely did the right if they do fire her she could probably sue them for wrongful
Termination

She does not deserve praise....you should have refused to drive another mile till it got fixed. YOU KNEW THE PROBLEM AND SHOULD HAVE STOPPED DRIVING A LONG TIME GET AN "F" GRADE ON THIS LADY DRIVER.

Did it back in the day when the shipper had us running on roads that we were over length and overweight for but was the most direct route. Called D.O.T. and told them when I was coming through along with my length and weight. They met me, turned me around and fined the company I drove for as well as the shipper. After that we got rerouted onto and paid for the legal route.

She did what we all could have done for decades to keep these companies accountable.

Company should be responsible when they know the truck need to be serviced ! Safety first.

YES, I feel her pain. I started as a new driver in 2019 with 100 + year old reefer company. I picked up a tractor in Dallas, TX that had so many DOT violations, no triangles, no permit book, no ELD, bad drives, non working 4-way flashers etc.; the truck was TRASHED. I have pix and videos of the tractor and conversations with my DM who told me that I HAD to pick up the load (my first) and deliver it back to the yard. I didn’t know…, so I did as I was instructed to do. I drove starting in Dallas, TX to Ft. Worth, TX to Laredo, TX. Then when I got to the yard Laredo, I was told the truck was fine. Meanwhile trainers at truck stops told me not to drive the truck because of the bad tires, but my DM had me drive a load solo from Laredo, TX to GA on the same bad tires. My truck was a mess, in and out of the shop as well as Frieghtliner for the duration of my employment… had a 2 cracks in the oil pan, 4-way flashers didn’t work, no operable bunk heater (stayed in CO with no heat). I even drove to Cali, Washington state, Oregon and back to Cali. The shop manager sent an email stating that I needed a new truck, but because it had 410K mike and still under warranty, they did not put the truck out of service. This experience made me leave trucking from 2019-2023, yep I’m back and with a new company.

Safety is not negotiable. She did the right thing, she will get a driving job right away.

You always have an option to leave that company. Let em fire ya. There are plenty of companies that will hire you. Matter of fact, take the truck straight to a terminal (after dot let's ya go) and quit. No company is worth all of that hassle especially with how crappy we are getting paid.

Your life is more valuable then the tire. Awesome job. More drivers need to do so if warrant
