One thing that dash cam videos have taught me is to get past a truck as fast as you can, and if you can't then get back behind it. Never stay next to a truck and match its speed.

What I've learned watching this: Whether it has 4 tires or 18...if the driver is an idiot, accidents WILL happen.

“Insurance company contacted me to ask if my lights were on.” If you can’t see a 14’ foot tall obstruction in your path, no amount of lights is gonna fix that. Any excuse for an insurance company not to pay will be exploited.

I’m a trucker with over 10 years of experience out here and I am absolutely embarrassed by the lack of defensive driving by a number of the truckers shown in this video who got into accidents with 4-wheelers because they assumed that the 4-wheelers wouldn’t do stupid things! Be observant AND drive defensively, drivers!!!

Thank god for dash cams. They save so many truckers from headaches when the other driver lies!

I had a semi rear end my prius. Lifted my car up and moved it. But his squishy plastic bumper and my plastic bumper just absorbed the impact. It was wild. When I got out to look, saw a little paint trade but bumper still sturdy, looked up at the trucker and gave a thumbs up. He gave me a signal of wiping sweat off his brow, like "Phew! Close call" and we both kept on driving. I like to think he still tells the tale of the new prius driver he rear-ended who did not ask for insurance information.

The radio commentary in #5 is pretty funny it's like the person was literally giving instructions to the trucker about getting the wreck on recording and watching it repeatedly 😂

1:15 The poor trucker's going to have to live with that memory, even though he had no way of stopping or preventing it. I'm not even sure if a regular car could've done anything with that amount of time. I hope the trucker gets therapy.

When I first started to drive, I was taught that if you can't see the truck driver.. they can't see you.
After I got out of the service, I became a local driver and was shocked by the insane entitlement of drivers thinking a truck could stop in 100 feet at 60mph.. they Don't.

#19 the radio was in perfect sync with accident! “From idle to red line in the blink of an eye” 😂

09:00 “locked up and ready to go from idle to redline in the blink of an eye.”

Heh. Somebody went from redline to idle in the blink of an eye!

"her husband, who was very calm and apologetic..."

YAY!

"They lied to their insurance and said I hit them."

Moral of the story: 5000lb car vs 80, 000lb truck, car loses every time.

In 85 when I met my future husband he was in an 18 wheeler all over east coast. He said it was mind blowing how people think semis can just stop suddenly. NJ turnpike and NYC were nightmares. It was his 1st trip. He wasnt driving. Just working for a company that installed McDonalds playgrounds.

Pass trucks and leave space people. In a traffic jam just stay alert and well aware that anything is possible. Great videos. Thanks for the upload.

Road rage isn’t worth it either. Stay strong and keep your composure.
