If you're not using Raspberry Pi OS then it's a bit of a pain to have to go through the file system resize, set it up, update it, reboot, etc. If you just want to update the EEPROM then I recommend writing the recovery image to an SD card / USB stick and booting that. The Raspberry Pi Imager can create one of these by going to "Misc utility images" -> "Bootloader", and either choosing "SD Card Boot" or "USB Boot".

Great info video. I had to use the make sd card and factory reset using raspberrypi imager on windows pc. It was frustrating until I tried imager with reset.
The handy tip of trying to boot from sd card in a usb 3 card reader was a handy way of testing if it boots from usb.

Their used to be a quicker way by formatting a card to fat32, put the eeprom files on the card. Put the card in the pi when it's off, power up the pi and wait till the screen flashes green (this indicates a successful flash) and its done. I'm not sure if you can still do this because I can't find the github page containing the files needed.

*Super! There were problems, but there were even more! Thanks bro! Google Chrome crashed after: sudo apt update and sudo full-upgrade and reboot...*
*Attempts to open YouTube result in a crash.* 😠

Raspberry Pi 4 B generally has a problem with MicroSD cards, I think: I always use SanDisk (class 10) and my Rasp Pi 4 B just cooks them, even brand new ones (32gb, 64gb) and they become totally unusable after one-time use - Scheißdreck; my PC (Windows 10) does not recognise them anymore. So I changed the boot order to USB, MSD and this solved the problem.

Hey Lee Please Help me.Actually I have a problem with my pi400 when I turn my pi400 on it turns on but it displays resultion less than 720p always and because my monitor doesn't support hdmi I have connected it to a VGA to HDMI converter and the hdmi converter is connected to a hdmi splitter because the pi400 has a micro HDMI port I can't connect the converter directly so when it boots I always need to unplug and plug the hdmi splitter power and after that I need to restart my pi400 then only the pi400 boots the native resultion of my monitor which is 1600X900.

Very useful, thanks, but didn't solve my problem. I have a Pi 4B Rev 1.1 which will only boot from an SSD on the USB2 port. Plugging it into USB3 gives a black screen. I've tried both USB3 ports, three different cables and two different SSD cases. No difference.
It works pretty well booting from USB2 but it's very annoying.
