You can also just click on the "Character" tab down at the bottom. It'll do the same thing.

You can also press “character” at the bottom

You don’t have to hit escape you can just hit tab again and it’ll bring you back to your inventory. This also works great for selling items traders (if you have an item in a backpack and neeed to get it out. Tab, get it out, tab, transfer to sell). Also works great for item searches.

You can do the same thing by hitting Character down bottom, then using the back button on top!

This has been patched out. It was one of my favorite QoL features and I have no clue why they would intentionally remove it. Hopefully it gets fixed with the scope update.
