Might I suggest Southeast Alaska in the late summer. Haines, Juneau, Sitka, glaciers, bears, whales, real wild salmon for dinner (not that farmed euro shyte), mountains, rivers, fjords ferry rides, small planes, and the some of the weirdest and friendliest Americans you'll ever find. (Keep in mind that Southeast Alaska is the size of Florida. The whole state is one fifth the size of the rest of the US.)
