4:47 You're plugging a 3D vector (blue) into a 1D value input (grey) of the color ramp. That means Blender has to somehow convert three numbers into one. Whatever it does, it won't just pick the Z value (which is what you want - the height).
Instead of using the _Mapping_ node to rotate it (which is indeed tedious), use it to scale X&Y by 0 and Z by 1.
Or just use the _Separate XYZ_ node

I think if you attach the UV from the mapping node to the vector you won't have that quirky stuff. Should be much easier to get the rotation you want.

Hi Kay! I have a question about exporting in Blender. I'm pretty new to everything but I was wondering if I can export objects with nodes? For example I made a small sphere with a image material and I also put emission node into shading. Is is possible to export this to Sketchfab/poly.google etc (with nodes). I tried to do this but unfortunately it doesn't work. If I only have an imagematerial without all the nodes it does work. Maybe I'm stupid haha. But is it doable?
