This is called burnishing the edge. If you put a tiny line of wood glue into the gap first (use your fingers to “pinch” it in), then burnish as seen in this video, then sand with a medium grit paper while the glue is still wet, it comes out pretty nice. The glue helps ensure the burnished edge doesn’t relax back into a gap, and the sanding helps some of the wood’s natural color fill any uneven areas.

WOW! That just blew my mind! I made a coffee table once and I made legs for it like that and all the mitres were open slightly. This would have easily fixed it.
