Series Circuits - GCSE Physics
Показать описание
This video introduces series circuits. A series circuit is a single closed loop of a circuit where the current has the same value at any point in the circuit. This means that the current through each component is the same but the potential difference is shared between the components.
An electrical component with a greater resistance will have a greater potential difference across it. This is because the current flowing through each component is the same and using the equation V=IR we can see that potential difference scales with resistance.
The sum of the different potential differences across each of the different components should add up to the potential difference across the battery or cell. The sum will often be slightly less than the battery or cell and this is because the wires do have resistance albeit very small.
