Well.. none of fiction is real. The point is the message and morals. Dune is about being weary of Messiah figures

Maybe it's not your type of movie then.

And of course they're not real. Its fiction. But it doesn't mean we can't relate with them or find them interesting. That's one of the many things that makes fiction, scifi or fantasy, enjoyable.

So a guy who spends his life writing about inside the character's head to build the story world doesn't like it when another author does the same thing with an exterior world. Who could have thought? I love world building, some people do it well, others write The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

I first experienced Denis Villeneuve watching the movie Incendies. Unforgettable to this day. His greatness is always on display.

Razorfist would disagree.haha I liked that conference scene from the Fellowship of the Ring! Frodo's "I will take it" is one of the greatest scenes. 10/10 movie for me. Would have preferred more character work like that meeting of the Fellowship over the long action scenes in the later movies. Trim those action scenes down and give us the Faramir Eowyn romance and Scourging of the Shire.

It seems a lot of people here don't understand that not all fans of fiction are fans of world building. While I do disagree his views in regards to the importance of lores, at the same I've just come to understand that he's one of those viewers/readers who prefer realism. Its just a matter of personal tastes. Not exactly a surprise that these are his opinions in regards to world building when his favourites are crime/thriller stories

So the problem isn't the film. The problem is this man's inability to be engaged by a film that is fictitious. That's like complaining about an abstract painting being problematic because it isn't photorealistic.

I wasn't into science fiction AT ALL until I read Dune and the Foundation series. These are truly amazing !
Dune is kinda philosophical and more like a regular novel.
The Foundation trilogy on the other hand is like a history book. It tells the decline and fall of the galactic empire.
