There’s a reason so many edge rushers go 1st overall. And only 1 receiver has ever gone first overall. There’s a reason why aside from qb, edge rushers have been picked the second most out of any position in the top 5 of all drafts. Edge rusher is hands down the more important position

Those Patriots teams they're talking about didn't have that one dynamic edge rusher. They had a collection of really good football players on defense and the GOAT

The receiver will almost always have a defender focusing on slowing him down and isn't involved on a lot of plays. The edge rusher, comes full steam play after play. This means the ER is always in every play. They are more important overall, and focused on stopping or fooling on every play.

Chiefs win 0 superbowls without Chris Jones . It’s defensive line and it’s not close

They do completely different things so you can’t really compare them. But they’re both equally important. Without WRs it’s easier to stop a teams offense because you need a run game and a passing game to be completely effective. Without edge rushers, the linebackers won’t have the extra support that they need to stop the offense.

You can see how green Ocho is lol. He's got great talent though and he'll get better with more practice in this kind of format

I think it’s about even in terms of what’s more important to the QB .. like a cause and effect type of thing .. but as far as team building I’m taking a rusher there more rare to find

If you have an elite edge rusher the qb won't be able to get the ball to a receiver

Saban always worried about the X receiver in the NFL while he was with the Fins. The outside speed in the NFL caused him nightmares.. So what did he do at Bama? He recruited a young man from the state named Julio Jones. The rest is history, forever written in the annuals.

If the edge rusher gets to the qb fast enough it don’t matter how great the wr is.
