America: "look how massive this spider is"

I love how everyones like that a wolf spider...it's a desert grass spider, part of the funnel weaver family. You can tell from the little triangles at the end of her abdomen

That spider was doing a wonderful job keeping the bugs out of their front door and house. Wasn't bothering anyone!

How do people simultaneously own a house somehow and think a spider web is a wasps

Spiders actually can’t handle big falls so the fall from the ceiling probably dazed it and that’s why it’s being so sluggish.

"Funnel web", unqualified, usually denotes a group of Australian mygalomorph spiders in the family Atracidie, and in particular the Sydney funnel web spider, atrax robustus. However, many species of spiders worldwide construct funnel shaped webs and are sometimes called funnel web spiders as well. The grass spiders and hobo spiders of the Americas are examples. Wolf spiders do not construct webs but actively stalk their pray - so that's not what this one is.

From Wikipedia:
The hobo spider (Eratigena agrestis, formerly Tegenaria agrestis) is a member of the family of spiders known colloquially as funnel web spiders, but not to be confused with the Australian funnel-web spider. Individuals construct a funnel-shaped structure of silk sheeting and lie in wait at the small end of the funnel for prey insects to blunder onto their webs. Hobo spiders sometimes build their webs in or around human habitations. The hobo spider lays its eggs in September and they hatch during late spring.

Also from Wikipedia:
Agelenopsis, commonly known as the American grass spiders, is a genus of funnel weavers first described by C.G. Giebel in 1869.[1] They weave sheet webs that have a funnel shelter on one edge. The web is not sticky, but these spiders make up for that by running very rapidly. The larger specimens (depending on species) can grow to about 19 mm in body length. They may be recognized by the arrangement of their eight eyes into three rows. The top row has two eyes, the middle row has four eyes, and the bottom row has two eyes (spaced wider than the ones on the top row). They have two prominent hind spinnerets, somewhat indistinct bands on their legs, and two dark bands running down either side of the cephalothorax.

Wild spiders are not aggressive. Please don’t kill them. They are great for staying in place and killing bugs! ❤

Guys…Its not hard. Funnel weaver spider is not a funnel web spider. The funnel weaver is a common weaver aka grass spider. Funnel web spiders are thick and hairless for the most part. They look like mouse spiders. Wolf spiders do look like grass spiders but they are different in many ways. Wolf spiders have more rounded out abdomens. Grass spiders have motre of a pointed abdomen. 👍

Ain't a wolf spider, wolf spiders don't make webs and are hunters typically don't climb up walls. Usually have thicker legs and move pretty quick.

Funnel webs are as mild mannered as you can imagine. They do look like wolf spiders.
