For all the folks asking, no it does not leave any residue on the wood, and does not interfere with finish or glue. The first time you try it hold on tight to your plane, you might chuck it through the wall it's so easy

I've found pure beeswax is exceptional for this, and it doesn't mark the wood at all.

One thing about the rag in a can is making sure you don't use a combination that starts a fire when left unattended.

I love the amount of love Paul Sellers gets on your channel!

Also you should lubricate your saw. It works

I just wipe the side of my nose on the sole of the plane. Really, it works. Works great to keep your fishing pole from getting stuck together too.

I wouldn’t be surprised if someone tried to pre-package and market Oily Rag in a Can. $29.99! Pictures of vintage tools on the can….

I use oil on my wood river #5. My Stanley 45 too. Works great.

I always used a block of wax, rubbed on the sole. When I saw the rag-in-a-can I wasn't interested because it was touted as a quick way to lube the plane without stopping you work. Just swipe the plane over it. Not for me, I'm a desk jockey, I need that short little break so I don’t wear myself out :D

I use the oil in a can thingy too. Works really well.

I have been using one of those HF micro fiber cloths with 3-in-1 oil on it and that works great.

I found it easy to use liquid paraffin spray for easy application. As you said it does a good job. I know many different options and all do the same with different pros and cons. A tea light is nice and compact for in the toolbox. Rag in can is easy and quick. Some things you have laying around anyway. Just do your job and stop thinking 😂

Fishing reel oil is the best lubricating oil that's easily accessible that I've found so far.

My grandpop always told me to use banana skins on planes & saws. I don’t usually eat many bananas, but when I use his tools, damn sure I do.

I used a chunk paraffin wax for a while, then tried the rag-in-a-can oiler. They gave about the same amount of lubrication and they lasted equally long, but I much prefer the rag in a can. It's quicker and I can do it with one hand without stopping my flow.

I got a candle stump in the back of my shop pants that goes on plane soles, saws and anything else that is rubbing on wood.

I prefer pure beeswax from my hives on mine.
