Mikhail Tarasov, Global Forestry Manager with IKEA of Sweden AB, says the international retailer is committed to transforming its business and value chain as well as shaping consumer behavior under a sustainability strategy guided by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. That includes using much more wood in its products, so these are produced using fewer resources such as water and energy. He says IKEA at present uses about 1 percent of the world’s commercial timber harvest, or about 18 million cubic meters of wood every year.
