Someone asked me the other day if I could make a tutorial on how to make the procedural glitter material I showed a while ago, so I did! I hope you find this video helpful and informative! If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer down in the comments.

You just taught me that I was way overthinking this. Crazy how good this looks for how simple it is.

Thanks again for this info. It's working great for me. I added a "3-point lights" and it made the highlights larger and brighter! (I'm 74, retired, no longer commercial. Having fun with Blender.)😎 subd

i had no clue it was this easy, I procrastinated on making my model bc I thought the glitter part would be really complicated, THANK YOU

I had never seen the color ramp technique of HSV and Far. That will come in handy, thanks!

You're reading my thoughts. Thank you! I thought it was not possible to make a red glitter hat for my crazy (alien?) Santa project.😎

The final material achievement, without the flash at the beginning of the video

Not normal map node. Bump node (height socket), then output of bump into normal. A second colour ramp connected to the output of the first with two slightly different shades of medium grey (with sliders at each extremity), then the colour output of that colour ramp goes into roughness socket on Principled BSDF.

how can i replace the color map with a image texture (having the image texture set the colors via UV mapping)?

When I make the render, the denoise option seems to smooth out the texture, making the chunky little dots kind of dissapear and making it look smooth. It's still reflective but not in a glitter way, more like in a latex way. Is there any way to avoid this? I dont want to turn off the denoise option because then the scene looks all blurry. This is cycles btw. thx!

This is awesome. How to make it smoother, for makeup?

how did you achieve the lens flare or little glowy halos when the glitter catches the light, like shown in the beginning of the video?

Is there a way to save this configuration to use in other projects?

Thanks for your useful tip. Now I have a problem with rendering because the render result in Cycles is blurry in that glitter part. Does anyone know how to fix it? Thank you.

I overthinked it so much, I had 3 different setups for each different colour, then I tried to mix them all with mix shaderd, also trying to layer them ontop of each other, I did the same for each colour's normals and roughness values too, no matter what I did, it still looked off. I feel so dumb now😅

How did you set up your lights for the final render?
