The MODE: Measures of Central Tendency (5-4)

The simplest way to think about central tendency is based on what number is most common in the dataset. This works especially well for nominal data where the most common is the category with the highest frequency. The mode can be used with ordinal and scale variables; however large datasets can have two or more modes, which create a problem for interpretation.
