I love this series because it makes me either really insecure about my betta's lightly planted tank or it makes me feel a little better about what im doing

Hey man that 14 year old yourself comment actually helps a lot. I've been feeling a lot of guilt for years of mistreatment my turtle experienced, but since getting help for my MDD he's in an extremely appropriate environment. We all make mistakes, what matters Chirs is that we keep moving forwards.

Every betta should experience the painful sting of saltwater on its skin and in its gills while not actually being sick and needing a salt shock treatment! I mean, come on! It was on his bucket list to enjoy that! (His kick-the-bucket list)

I love how he pays so much attention to each tank that he is actually able to recognise ones he has rated before.

we have sea monkeys! And I love them! We got them a bigger tank and our very first planted shrimp tank is thriving! Never had a fish tank before but your channel has definitely given us direction. Yikes, sea monkeys are a lot of sea creatures favorite food, I’m not too sure they can be housed with anything except sea monkeys. I have my sea monkeys in their own tank because i worry the shrimp will eat them.

Kind of a fun fact. I looked into it, bc I was curious about the tolerances, and although obviously not recommend and basically torture, that betta in the saltwater tank may survive due to their hardiness. According to a few different sources in a quick internet search, they can apparently handle much higher levels of saltiness than most freshwater fish and will survive for a good while (although they won't thrive). They will likely struggle to breathe via their gills, but they have a labyrinth organ, so even that issue won't stop them. Such amazing little creatures. Sad to see them in such stressful situations

Regarding the betta that was dropped in the sink, I'd be more afraid that the dishcloth had soap on it.

That Betta said thanks, I don't want to go in. Thank you for providing this fantastic video and making my Monday great again!

I got a new betta fish and I’m constantly checking his water parameters. He’s been flaring at the edges of my tank so I’m drawing some backgrounds on thick cardstock to tape to the back of the tank and to the side where I can’t look through. Already added the paper to the side and he seems to really enjoy it. He’s also been following my face when I look at him. I alternated from looking at him from the side to the front and back a couple of times. He’s super cute and so pretty. He’s in a 5 gallon tank with a few Amano shrimp and a blue mystery snail. Mystery snail may go back to the shrimp tank but only after I get a bristlenose pleco to join the betta as I need a cleaner in the tank to take care of old plant matter and any algae. I’d rather not use tons of chemicals if I can avoid it

the tank in the photo might look more like a 2.5, but it is actually is a 6.8-gallon cube. Gobi is kinda at the front of the tank so it looks smaller.

I keep my aquarium surge protector in a special box I got from Amazon. It has a lid on it so no water gets splashed on it accidentally. Definitely worth looking into for the safety of you and your fish :)

I bought 10 feeder goldfish from the mart of pets 3 or 4 years ago. All but 2 died within a few days of putting them in my pond. But 2 survived! They are now 1' long and get along with my koi quite well. I have lots of tropical fish in my indoor aquariums but my $0.33 feeder goldfish are my favorite :)

I can’t remember if it’s a gold fishes second or first intenstine. But one of them processes food at a way slower rate and has characteristics of a stomach. Neat stuff!

About the amphibians in Norway thing: Import of exotic mammals, reptiles, and amphibians is prohibited. In this context, "exotic" means animals that aren't native to Norway and aren't on a list of recognised pet and livestock species. And since axolotls aren't on that list, it would at least be illegal to import them into Norway.

Seamonkeys thrive in salinity saltier than seawater itself, otherwise known as brine water. So they pretty much shoved that betta in water saltier than the sea.

Thanks so much for reviewing my tank!!! Was not expecting it at all!

I mean I had a dedicated brine shrimp tank that was 1tbsp Aquarium Salt to 1 Gallon water. Which could possibly be used as a very strong medical dip for bettas. But you know, with proper acclimation instead of tossing it around your kitchen.

You can really see the salinity when they pour the cup in, the water spirals from the mix
