On this family trip, we stayed at the Loews hotel in Santa Monica near the the Santa Monica Pier. During our stay, we visited the Santa Monica Pier, rented bikes and rode on the Santa Monica bike trail, ate at The Albright restaurant, along with our hotel's own restaurant, Blue Streak. We also checked out 3rd Street Promenade, and visited the Annenberg Community Beach House.

I have lived in Santa Monica for 60 years(i am 67 now) I used to walk to the beach from our house on Grant Sreet. Always felt safe and loved the ocean. Did you know there is a police station on the pier now? I plan to start walking to the pier again soon. Great video!

Given the fact that every third store is empty on 3rd street promenade and Wilshire Blvd., (due to the riots and covid), homelessness is rampant, secondary to the city policies suggest you try San Diego or Santa Barbara. Spring and early summer in SoCal suffer from May Grey and June Gloom and the water does not warm up until late July. A lot better places to spend your $$ for vacation. Yes I worked there in SM (35 yrs) and live close by.

Thanks for this! Can I ask if there was ever a time you felt unsafe, or areas to avoid around here please?
