Excellent coverage by WION (especially Palki Sharma), in highlighting a wide range of issues, both domestic and international, which would otherwise be overlooked or obfuscated. Regarding the situation in Ukraine maybe there should be more debate and clarity on the following :

1. After the fall of the Soviet Union, the unification of Germany, and the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact, why has its counterpart NATO, a powerful military alliance, not been disbanded? Instead we see it’s relentless eastward expansion towards the borders of the Russian Federation.

2. Why has NATO and the US rejected as “non-starters” the security guarantees demanded by an obviously insecure Russia ?

3. Why has Russia been excluded from membership in the EU ?

Ukraine is only peripheral to the big power game being played out by the West, especially the USA and UK (incidentally partners in the invasion of Iraq seeking mythical “weapons of mass destruction”).

The outcome of the current situation (as a result of Western exceptionalism) is that :

a. European security is now further undermined with no resolution in sight.

b. Russia has now been forced closer to China with both now openly aligned against NATO.

c. The sovereignty of China over Taiwan has been reaffirmed by Russia.

d. The status of North Korea and Pakistan as destabilising proxies, has been further enhanced.
