As the news of the death of Hezbollah's long-standing leader Hassan Nasrallah is still being digested, the United Nations Security Council met late last night on the broader Palestinian questions that was also dominated by the escalation now being witnessed in southern Lebanon.

The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned at that meeting that a war in Lebanon could lead to further escalation involving outside powers while Arab Foreign Ministers led by Jordan's Chief diplomat Ayman Safadi who cautioned that continued escalations in the region, including in Gaza, the West Bank and Gaza could heighten the threat of a regional war.
