American Psycho had a brilliant ending. It suggested that Patrick could have gotten away with killing all those people because everyone else was so self absorbed. The ambiguity is because Patrick Bateman does not know if he is actually killing people or imagining it. He gets drugged up, an ATM tells him to feed it a stray cat, and the way he kills people suggest that he is hallucinating. He kills people in absurd unrealistic ways.

Something you probably missed: In Hereditary, there is a plant that allows Paimon to possess the family called The Dittany Of Crete. It is very briefly seen in a container when Annie is rummaging through her mother’s possessions. It is used when Annie drinks Joan’s tea (she pulls a piece of it out of her teeth), when Peter is smoking underneath the bleachers (one of his friends is looking at him, smiling, and can be seen in the treehouse at the end of the movie), and when Charlie is an infant (it was infused into her baby formula).

I subscribe to the theory that there is no Witch in "The Blair Witch Project", and Heather was killed by the two guys for being annoying and a terrible filmmaker. (Actually, the whole trio are quite annoying, and incredibly stupid. After all, they get lost next to a river after one of the geniuses throws their map away. Brilliant. Assuming there was a witch, I was rooting for her to kill them all.)
