Things I wish I knew before studying Celtic Spirituality...

🌀 The full video is available now!

Let's dive into why it's not an accurate description to describe something in the past & why it's turning into something special today.

How did you learn about this term?

✨ Psssst... This is the introducing to a podcast with @pretaniwisdomtraditions which is coming out on MONDAY 12th or February.

Although some of us don't have a direct lineage of elders or traditions to follow step by step, the most important thing is that we listen to nature. Today many people practice paganism, witchcraft, Wicca, druidry or just follow the wheel of the year to connect to the seasons…. would you label your practice?

🌀 This is about respecting nature once again like our ancestors did, and reviving the little that we do know for our own personal journeys.

As a first generation Irish American I must say that the New Age fantasy-aesthetic “Celtic” stuff did a lot to drive me off the very possibility of an ancestrally connected spirituality for a long time. Coming from an Irish speaking family just the total mispronunciation of every name and term did enough to discredit it to me but now that I’m more mature I’m not so judgmental towards people’s sincere efforts to reconnect

I just found out about Celtic spirituality and how the Celtic people had their history and religion stolen from them. I’m Irish by the way. ☘️
The Phonecians = Punics = the sea peoples = the lost tribe = the Celtic people = Aryan. The real caananites.
The ancient Irish dialect is identical to both Punic and ancient semetic language. They come from the same source, ALL of romes wars were against the Celtic Gaelic peoples.. in Italy.. Carthage, Sicily, North Africa, Iberia, Gaul, Anatolia, and all Eastern Mediterranean was run by the Phonecians. It was the first world war.. Rome wanted to set up their own global religion under one global empire finishing the dream of Alexander the Great. Alexander the Great really conquered Phonecia. The fall of the Bronze Age was the celts invading and comquering everything.. which they ruled untill Cyrus the great. Then Alexander conquered that empire ruling the world. He built Alexandria to get maps of Phonecians since they built all the ancient sites around the planet. There’s a specific line of ancient sites that wraps around the world starting at pyramids.. they were all built by the ancient Aryans. Moses is Ramsees II. You can see his red blondish hair. Alexander the Great is King Tut. He wasn’t some nobody child. He was the king of kings. Thsts why his sarcophagus was 6 layers of pure gold. The center of ancient civilization was new grange. There’s Stonehenge.. woodhenge in North America which Phonecians kept secret for centuries. North America was Atlantis but was flooded when north ice caps were hit by a meteor.. flooding everything creating Grand Canyon by the flow of water. You’ll see above and below is protected by high mountains, the only way for the water to flow is exactly where the Grand Canyon is. It was made fast not over thousands of years.

It's a tricky one with Welsh mythology. Everything written comes from a period of time, ruled by an anti-Pagan religion, hundreds of years after the stories were forced to change, simply to be able to survive. They were written, not as a way of preserving an ancient, pre-Christian truth, but as a way to entertain people, particularly to entertain the Norman elite, who were kicking the snot out of the English.

There are faint traces of the pre-Roman and Romano-Celtic deities, for instance: Gofanon (Gobbanos), Lleu Llaw Gyfres (Lugus), Beli Mawr (Belenus), Tiernon/Tegid (Tigernonos), Rhiannon (Brigantia); but they have lost most of their meanings and potency. Most of all, the practice of anthropomorphism has been taken to the extreme, where original land Deities were given human attributes to appeal to a more industrial, settled people, and by the time we reach the written stories, they have been reduced to being human; albeit very powerful ones.

I'd argue that there was a big difference in 'Celtic' Paganism between insular and continental. I'd now say that there is an even bigger gap between Cymru paganism and pre-Roman paganism. There never was a unified Celtic paganism, no unified pantheon. We were only united by language and art. We were a loose collection of independent tribal groups. It's like trying to say that all Native Americans have the same religion. Celtic paganism was bioregional. This is why the mother goddesses all have different names, names given to, or derived from their local rivers. From Matrona (Marne), to Thamesis (Thames) and Dani/Don (Danube).

And THAT is what makes Celtic paganism so amazing; the fact that it is fluid, evolving, adaptable. It doesn't need to be a carbon copy of our ancestors' paganism. It needs to be our own, relevant to our location, time and understanding.

What you are doing with yours is absolutely amazing.

Welsh Druidism is more akin to science than a religion, Druids are considered the first natural philosophers, which is an old, but contemporary, term for scientist

After thousands of pages of research.
Jesus was connected to the Druids. The Druids priests were all over the entire world, there are ancient Irish and latin carved stones in Ireland. There’s a stone hiuse marked “house of the Jews” in ancient Celtic.

There’s Druids worshipped and found god through Nature. They worshipped a god named “Esus” who was a trinity god.

Roman Catholics hated that the Druids were controlling Irish church’s and had influence so they slaughtered them, then oppressed Irish history, Stonehenge for THOUSANDS of YEARS.

I am in so much need of guidance. My great grandfather immigrated to the US and brought these practices with him. It’s gotten muddled through the decades. I truly just want to find my roots and this is the most representative of those values.

As an Ecltectic Pagan/Wiccan Hedge witch from south Wales I've learnt that there is a difference between celtic and Britanic/Gaelic.
The celts are groups of South central Europeans who migrated and integrated into Britain and Ireland before the vikings, romans and Anglo-Saxons.
Britanic/Gaelic are native to Western Europe
Nowadays people lump different Western European mythologies together and call it celtic when deities like the morrigan is Irish and deities like cannonnus are gaulish. There not all the same and there definitely not celtic.
The Gaelic and Britanic peoples are the indigenous peoples of the British Isles and Western Europe.
Deities like rhiannon, morrigan and Danu are Gaelic/Britanic deities.
