How often do you think about the Roman Empire? Whatever your answer, it's not often enough

A recent viral tiktok trend shines light on how often men think about the Roman Empire - but in our view that's only natural, Rome is fascinating! The real question isn't why do so many people love Rome, it's asking why there is a gender imbalance in the study of Rome.

This documentary explores the reasons (both good and bad) that some feel drawn to Rome and explains how openings up the wonders of Roman civilization to an even wider audience will benefit everyone - not just those who love the classics.

It did "fall long ago" but longevity is relative and it lasted a long bloody time. The decline phase of the Western empire lasted about as long as the current United States, and that's if you exclude the Eastern empire (which you shouldn't) which lasted another 1, 000 years.

you make some excellent points here. i also think there is far too much emphasis on military and political endeavors, which are def some women’s cup of tea, but not mine. learning about the societal aspects of ancient civilizations is to me much more interesting

Shill ‘feminist male’? - Rome was pretty revolting but it was what it was and it achieved much and - as at all times - its politics may have been substantially driven by female behind-the-scenes power. No Rome - no New Testament and the skill of laced meanings in that book have only just begun to be understood and explored outside a handful of men throughout history though not always - and yes ‘men’ includeth women and signifieth ‘active principle’ be it in either sex. Actually the US has not yet - and is now probably not likely to - established for itself a name among Civilisations. Its one technical preeminent achievement was the Apollo landings - Rome and Britain achieved many more things if none so particularly dazzling.
